The installation involves two parts. A series of street photographs of back portraiture that displays the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person.
In addition, an interactive installation of a mirror and an “opposite mirror” where it projects the viewers back as if it was seeing by someone else’s eyes.
How many times do we see our own back in our life?
Almost everyday of our lives, we stand in front of the mirror, looking at our face, taking care of our ‘front’.
Not many people care about their back as much as their front.
If you want to see your back, can you see it as if you were looking in a mirror?
My back can only be seen by someone other than myself.
I often see people’s back more than their front
When I walk or when I wait in a line
At the mall, street, park, work, and so on.
It's strange.
It looks like there is a story, but there's no word on their back.
In a world of many face-to-face deception, one’s back reveals the most straightforward inner self they don't embellish.
Out of all the backs I see, the backs that are alone, have their head down, and staring at an empty space always carve deep down in my heart
How do I comfort them? What do I say to them?
At the end, my back may also look weak in someone else’s eyes.
